Treat all electric lines with caution and respect. Even low-voltage electric lines and cords can be hazardous if damaged or improperly handled.
Be especially careful when working near power lines attached to your house. Keep equipment and yourself at least 10 feet from lines.
Watch out for power lines the next time you use a ladder, prune trees, clean a pool, work on a roof, carry long tools or pipes, install or remove an antenna. Never fly kites, model airplanes, balloons or any other outdoor toys around power lines.
Never trim your trees with power lines going through or near them and never cut tree limbs that are touching power lines or that could fall into them.
Look up before raising a ladder or pole to verify that it will not be close to power lines when raised. Use a flashlight or lantern at night to help you see overhead power lines or other hazards.
