Make sure you know the different types of fire extinguishers and how to use them. Check extinguishers periodically to see if they are charged and well marked.
Always Identify the electric shock and arc flash, as well as other hazards that may be present at work place.
Water, electrical equipment, and power cords do not mix! Use GFCI protection in wet or damp environments.
Be alert to the following danger sings:
>A burning smell or unusual odor coming from an appliance or wiring.
>Sizzling sound at wall switches or outlets.
>Flickering lights. If you cannot locate a problem inside your home, call your power company or an electrician immediately
Exit doors, corridors and staircases shall be kept free from obstruction at all material time,so in case of fire personnels can readily escape.
DO NOT close any Switch/GOS/Breaker unless you are familiar with the circuit, which it controls and know the reason for its being kept open
Caution children from playing near Electrical installations,even if they are barricaded.
Stay away from all installations like electricity poles,sub stations,transformer,streetlights etc.
Do not use unsafe equipment or poorly maintained appliances. This means it’s time to get rid of old coffee makers, radios, lamps, space heaters and other equipment that are often brought into the office by employees. These items can often develop electrical shorts and create fire or electrical shock
DO NOT touch or tamper with any electrical equipment or conductor, unless you have made sure that it is DEAD AND EARTHED
